Late Post: Day 3 of the Gratitude Challenge

I am grateful for:

1. Making it in time to get on the free shuttle to work– actually making all my buses in time. Tuesday being the first working day of the week plus the fact that it was raining didn’t make it easy for me to wake up early. I fumbled sleepily for my neglected umbrella and I scrambled for a mad dash out the door when I realized I was running late for my usual morning bus. I didn’t think I was going to make it but I did! I even had enough allowance to dilly-dally.

2. Being surrounded by books while hearing an old jazz song play. Yes, my heart cartwheels in excitement when exposed to these things. I was sitting on Chapters’ carpeted floor (on a mission to get on its free wifi). For that brief moment as I sat there with my back against one of the shelves, I faced a full 4-foot wall containing rows of books, to my sides as well, while my ears picked up a faint melody of a jazzy blues song. All of a sudden I was transported to 5 years ago. At a coffee shop. Along Katipunan. Nights spent on cramming for a midterm, a final exam, an orals, or a group project. Good memories that left a bittersweet taste in my mouth… I felt sad, longing to go back to the days that felt like were snatched from me. But I guess, I could choose to feel thankful too. I’d like to.

3. Laughter with Y, a friend whom I haven’t seen for a long time and whom at times I’ve harboured tampo feelings for.

Apart from that I’m grateful that I made it home safe even though it was drizzling and late and dark.
